Value Added Products

Frog Bench Farms grows a rotating variety of vegetables, fruits, and greens throughout the warmer months—and even into winter! Our produce is enjoyed across the Salt Lake Valley, with visitors to the Downtown Farmer’s Market and several local restaurants being among our loyal customers. However, any farmer will tell you that not every vegetable comes straight off the plant looking market-ready. So, what do we do with the extra produce? This is a challenge even small farms face, and over the past several growing seasons, Frog Bench has turned that challenge into an opportunity to make delicious local food go even further.

What started as experimenting with drying and preserving fresh herbs has evolved into a wonderfully creative and nutritious secondary program. We have developed an ever-expanding line of shelf-stable farm-fresh freeze-dried products that are grown, processed, and packaged onsite right here in Salt Lake City.  

Why freeze-dried? Why not! Freeze-drying onsite allows us to extend the life of our produce indefinitely, use minimal packaging, and maintain all the flavor and nutrition we cultivate in everything we grow. Our freeze-dried products contain no additives or preservatives, just whole local goodness. They are also incredibly lightweight and packable, making our freeze-dried products the perfect addition to your camping or backpacking meal plan.
